A leaseholder writes….

Yesterday, I attended a meeting of the Brixton Area Leaseholders Forum.

As a leaseholder I know first hand the frustration with Lambeth housing services: incorrect service charges, rip-off maintenance charges, and terrible service levels.

Lambeth housing is in melt down. Every leaseholder has their own horror story to tell. People are angry and frustrated at how they are being treated.

Nearly 200 of us attended the Leaseholder forum hoping to get answers on why things were such a mess and what was being done to fix the problems.

Nothing was said at the meeting to give us confidence that our problems will be fixed and that the something is being done to stop the rot.

The housing service is in melt down but the message coming from the Labour led Town Hall is that nobody is responsible.

This is utter rubbish. The housing service is in a mess because of bad policies and incompetent management. Responsibility sits with the Labour elected administration that has run Lambeth housing into the ground.

If our elected officials are unable to protect our interests and won’t accept responsibility when things go wrong they don’t deserve to represent us.

As a Conservative council candidate I want to do things differently. Firstly, local Conservatives across Lambeth are working with leaseholders to help resolve their specific problems. Secondly if elected, me and the my fellow council candidates (Bettie Morton and Andrew Tuson) and the parliamentary candidate Kemi Adegoke will continue our campaign for reforms to ensure that Herne Hill leaseholders stop getting ripped off by the Labour led council.
