Road Safety Measures

We conducted a street survey, late last year and Road Safety in Poet’s Corner and along Railton Road was a big concern among local residents.

Hamish, who is also a Railton Road resident asked the council to take action.

Unfortunately, the council refused to address the problem, other than traffic calming measures in Hurst and Rymer Street.
There are currently no road safety measures planned for Poets’ Corner.

Please Support our campaign for Lambeth to investigate Road Safety Measures in Poets’ Corner and Railton Road.

xxxxxxxx,
Great need for road safety in this area. Shakespeare Road is a local rat-run which seems to encourage speeding and hostile driving: this is totally unacceptable on a route that children use to get to the new school.

xxxxxxxx,
Chaucer road has become a free for all drag strip.
The zebra crossing on Dulwich Road at the junction with Brixton Water Lane seems to be ignored by the majority of drivers. A strong speeding deterant has to be put in place to encourage drivers to be vigilant of pedestrians attempting to cross, especially parents with small children in tow.

xxxxxxxx,
This area is extremely dangerous especially for young children. Please investigate further measures to slow drivers.

xxxxxxxx,
I don't understand why the top of shakespeare has no traffic calming measures. Surely it's straight forward to implement speed bumps and a 20 mph limit.
